Blog#9 My vacation

My ideal vacation would consist of both me and a group of friends, or me and a special girl. We would go to the keys or Hawaii for our vacation, someplace tropical looking. We would go scuba diving and fishing for tropical fish we would never get to see in Michigan. We also would go out to all the main tourist sites around the area, including a bar or two. I’ve always wanted to go on an exotic fishing or hunting trip. Even Alaska would be a really cool option for a hunting trip too. But we would hangout on the beach for a good portion of the day and do some outside beach activities. If I was with a group of friends I would probably look for a hot Hawaiian chick to bring home with me. I would want to stay for at least a week so I could make sure and get the maximum out of where ever I go, because it’s very expensive and it might be the only time I go. I always wanted to go visit a warm place or even live there. We went on a family visit to Florida when I was around 12. We went to Disney land and it was a very awesome time. But I would like to go now as an adult and get the full experience.

Blog #8

I had just moved into a new apartment with my dad in Imlay city. He is a pretty bad alcoholic and him and his girlfriend of 3 years just split up. I know it’s his fault to I can’t blame her for anything. But I felt that as a son I should be there for him. And not to mention he just moved into a more expensive apartment right before they broke up. So I thought I could help make the payments a little easier for him and be there for him in case his heart acts up again and he needs to go to the hospital. But mostly to keep him company and try to make everything as relaxed as possible to reduce his drinking. I cannot trust him by himself with no one to be there with him. I worry too much and think of all terrible things that could happen. But I know he would do it for me, so since last week I’ve been devoting my time so helping him recover. By the way he’s not just a beer drinker, he likes his whiskey and it’s a shame that he would rather go through life blacked out. But he is one of the greatest people i have met when he is sober so its my main goal as his son to help him.

I have a few things that have affected my life dramatically that I would like to write about. I have lost an extreme amount of weight to make myself happier and I have also been through the courts system more then I would like to share and I now made it 3 years without being in trouble. Plus I’m going to school for criminal justice. So I think I’ll write my memoir about my experience back in high school when I had gotten a drinking and driving. I thought all was lost and I would never recover with that much on my plate. But I made it thought with hard work and motivation. But mainly I had to think of the possible outcomes before I did things I would regret. I think my paper will turn out good I personally think I did a good job and deserve at least a B, but we’ll see how things go. And especially since I have a prior now I need to be extra careful. The more you get the more expensive the fines get. For the first one I had to pay a thousand dollar fine, 6 months probation, counseling, drug testing and 2 500$ responsibility fees annually. The more you get the fines pretty much double each time so be very careful and remember it’s not worth it.

Deer Processing Blog #5

My step dad and his friend had opened up a deer processing business in our pull barn last year. During gun season we averaged 20 deer a day. We offer the cheapest price around and also we are one of the few places where you get your own meat back. It’s a dirty and stinky job but someone has to do it.
I didn't do much work around their last year, but this year I just learned how to skin the deer. It is fairly easy to do, but the knives are sharp so watch out. They say every year someone gets cut pretty bad and I have a knack for getting hurt during the work day. At my last job doing fencing I got more injuries in the first month then my boss said he’s gotten in the last 10 years.
I get paid 5 bucks a deer, which I think should be more but I average a deer per 30 minutes so I guess it’s not bad. Pretty soon when gun season starts up I should be a little faster, hopefully because we think that were going to get way more this year than last year. We also sell jerky and sausage sticks with pepper jack and jalapeƱo. They taste really good but in my opinion get old pretty quick.
The physical requirements for this job are not as bad as my last jobs, but you’re still going to be sore by the end of the day. It involves carrying 150 plus lb. deer and ripping the skin separate from the body after the right cuts have been made. The biggest deer we got in so far is a 10 point buck and weighed 180 lbs.
Also another responsibility I have is bringing the deer in and tagging them when no one else is there, which is often because they have other jobs also. The only things tagging involves is giving the deer and number for organization reasons, and then gathering the information onto sheets we have. The information includes what they want back from the deer like skull caps, the head and if they wanted it mounted. We also ask how they want their deer cut and what parts of the body they want like back straps whole, chops, steaks, neck roast and burger.
If anyone would like a business card please feel free to ask me during class, i usually carry some in my wallet.

Reaserch paper blog

The career I plan on going into is criminal justice. I want to be in a career where something new and exciting is always going on, and I want to feel like I have done something useful by the end of the day. For the research paper we are assigned to do in our English class, I chose the topic to be on the technology in the criminal justice field and how it affects the way the system works. I will explain the different types of technology that we currently have developed and some that we haven’t even heard of yet that they are just thinking up. I will also explain the advantages this would cause in the field and the disadvantages if there are any. I think that is a very good and important topic to learn about and also share to some others. Also in the research paper there will be a brief description of the criminal justice career, the history of criminal justice and the technology used back in the day. That will allow the readers to know how much it’s changed in the last 70 years. The technology is very important, without it catching criminals and solving cases would be so much more difficult. For example if we didn’t have dna testing then it would be allot more difficult to figure out who’s blood is on the murder weapon or the crime scene. Also finger printing is a technology that helps us solve many cases. So as our technology develops its becoming more and more difficult for criminals to commit their crimes, even though a lot do get away I believe that within the next few years to come we will see a huge increase if not decrease in our system. The following website will give lots more information if anyone’s interested. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/nij/speeches/acjs.htm

Blog Number 2 movie review.

Robin Hood
I recently watched the movie Robin Hood; it’s an action, adventure and drama. It was a really good movie. It was in the 13th century in England, robin and his group of men lead an uprising against a corruption in a small village against the crown that will alter the balance of world power forever.
Following a death of a king in
France, Archer Robert Longstride, along with will Scarlett, Alan-a-Dale and Little John returns to England. They encounter a dying man who just wants robin to return his sword to his father. When robin find his father in Nottingham the father asks robin to impersonate his son so that they will be able to keep all of their land and farms. But by doing so he falls in love with the ready made wife.
The corruption in the crown is by a man called Godfrey. He is French and finds his way working right next to the crown to help allow the French an easier victory. Then after he becomes Marshall of England he goes from town to town burning down all who can’t afford the ridiculous new taxes they owe to the new king.
The movie goes very well with its genre. It’s an action because of all the war going on, adventure because their traveling all over the country and a drama because he falls in love and theirs always drama with that. This movie I think meets most people’s criteria very well. It has a good ending; it doesn't leave you wondering what happens next. Theirs lots of good fighting action and even some humor along with it.
College students are looking for a good action movie or an adventure movie. This one is both plus some drama. It has good actors and I think it would definitely interest college students and the broader public. It has history and a lot of cultural in it. They shaped the characters and the way they acted really well in this film. Even their outfits and the war style back then fit in. Over all it’s a very good movie that I think everyone should watch at least once.

New Job blog number 3

About 2 months ago I got a job working with my mom’s boss doing fencing. I found it to be a very physical demanding job; a lot harder than I thought it would be. But at least it’s something new each day for the most part which is a good thing to make the day go by faster. But the first month we did a series of jobs consisting of putting up and painting a backstop to a high school baseball field, 2 cemeteries, a razor wire job in flint at an auction house and a few more residential jobs. Recently we did a foundation and fenced the pallet factory on m-24. Also the last 2 weeks I have been at a shop in Imlay city called champion. They build bus's and things like that, well anyway we put up big 12 ft. cages in there and we recently found out that they told us the wrong spot to put the biggest one which took the longest. So yesterday I spent most my hours taking that down which was a lot easier than putting it up I guess. But with school over full time its getting pretty difficult and we just got another huge 5000 ft. job and I don't know if I’ll be able to participate in the building, I think school should come first so you get a good education while you can, especially if you’re using financial aid because the way our economy is now who knows if we will be able to receive it a couple years down the road. You do also receive plenty of cuts in this line of work. I got more in the first week than my boss said he’s gotten in his whole 20 years of doing fencing. I guess I could be a little more careful but I like to work fast and quick.  www.ServiceMagic.com/Fencing is a good website to checkout for pricing a fence project or anything if interested.

Blog number 1 Working out

My name is Nick Hancock I live in Lapeer Michigan. I’ve lived here for my whole life. I’m 20 years young and when I was 17 years old I was on my way to being obese. I graduated from Lapeer East High School in 2008. I got in some trouble from when I was a senior to about 19 when I smarted up a little bit. This should be my last year at Mott then I will have my degree in criminal justice.
When I was 18 I started working at a shop called Mold Masters and I decided to start eating healthy. Then the physical labor that was required everyday helped me go from about 270 to around 240. I only worked for about 6 months but even after that I still eat healthy. By time I was about 19 and a half I was down to about 230 and a lot of people I know where doing this workout
DVD called p90x. I got a hold of the DVD set and started going at it everyday.
P90x is a very hard and intense
DVD. At first I couldn't even finish the DVD but by the end of the first 3 month period I could see results. I did it for about 5 months and am down to 185 now. A lot of people say they don't like the burn, but I love the burn. It’s like my new drug. When I feel the burn I know something’s happening and I don't plan on stopping now until I am at my top physical performance that it’s possible for my body to achieve.
I could never do any pull ups or barely do push ups. I couldn't even run a half mile. Now I find myself doing 15 pull ups easily, 100's of push-ups during each exercise and running miles easier than ever. If anyone if interested in the workout routine visit http://www.beachbody.com/p90x I recommend this to EVERYONE!
